How often do you struggle with the way something in your home works, only to shrug it off and tell yourself that's just the way the house is? If you do this quite often, then you should know that most of these little annoyances are actually things that professionals can fix. For example, the following common house problems are all ones that a plumber can fix and are usually quite easy and inexpensive.

Running Toilets

After you flush your toilet, it should fill up. And then it should not run and fill again until you flush it again. If it randomly turns on and starts running in between flushes, that means your toilet has a leak between the tank and the bowl. The plumber can replace the leaky part, which will stop you from having to listen to the running throughout the day, and you'll save water.

Toilets That Flush Incompletely

Do you have to hold the toilet lever down to ensure it flushes? Maybe you have to flush a couple of times in order for the flushing to be effective. An incomplete flush is often due to a stretched or too-long chain in the back of the toilet. The plumber can adjust or replace this part, which will make flushing so much easier.

Dripping Faucets

The sound of a dripping faucet can be annoying. The drips can also leave mineral deposits in the bottom of your sink or tub. Plus, this is a waste of water. Sometimes, a plumber will need to replace the gaskets in your faucet. Other times, they may need to adjust a part. In a worst-case scenario, they will need to replace the whole faucet, which is still a relatively small job worth having done.

Water That's Not Quite Hot Enough

If your hot water heater is turned all of the way up but your water is still not quite as hot as you'd like, you don't have to just live with it. Your hot water tank may have sediment in the bottom that is interfering with its heating. A plumber can drain the tank and remove this sediment. The thermostat could also be faulty, which is something else that the plumber can fix.

If you're struggling with any of these little household annoyances, contact a plumber. None of them are hard to fix, and having them fixed can give you so much peace of mind. For more information on residential plumbing repairs, contact a professional near you.
